Volunteer opportunities

It will be a real challenge for Lutheran Island Camp to have this dedication event which will go over a 3-day period.  In order for us to be successful we will need at least 100 or more volunteers to help us before, during, and after the event. In Preparation of the Dedication: Even now we have begun working on projects that need to get ready by Dedication Day.

 

Publicity                                        

Completion of Projects including towers, boardwalk, trails

 Putting together Exhibits and Displays
Grooming of the grounds New fences need to be put up Cleaning up brush
Preparing Renderings and signage for building sites. (art work) Recruiting volunteers Developing the demonstrations
Recruiting Choir members Recruiting Youth for the Youth Choir Finding additional sponsors
Sending out materials to congregations, choir members, etc. Logistics for meal tickets  

 

The Week of the Dedication: During the week prior to the Dedication there will be a great deal of work needed to move things in and stage them appropriately.

The Day of the Dedication: We know that there will be a great deal of last minute activity to prepare for the Dedication Day activities which will begin by 10:00. Volunteers on the Day of the Dedication will be asked to wear a special t-shirt which we will provide.

Runners (chase things down)

 

Demonstrations (Please contact us well in advance if you have an exhibit or display you would like to share) People to help folks with carrying their food.
Water attendants (making sure water stations have water) Electronics assistant (help with speakers/microphones, instruments, etc. Photographers/Videographers
Handymen (doing whatever we need in a hurry) Carriers (people willing to help carry and set up things) Toilet attendants (checking that supplies are always fresh and available)
Adult Choir Members Youth Choir Members Cashiers (we won't be using money, but there will be an offering that we will need to tabulate and keep safe)

 

The Day after the Dedication: On Sunday, August 30th, there will be a Mission Festival Service at the ranch. We will need to have some volunteers to help with that event. After the Mission Festival participants have left, we will begin the process of taking down equipment, tables, tents, awnings, etc.
